The Association

Sealand's national football team

The Sealand Football Association is the independent governing body for football representing the Principality of Sealand. It sets the standards, registration and rules under which the national team and related football activity operate. Players are registered through Sealand FA, eligibility is defined by its regulations, and matchdays are run to its codes of conduct, safeguarding and safety standards.

Football under the Sealand flag has a longer history — including fixtures against sides such as the Chagos Islands, Tamil Eelam, Somaliland and Alderney, and appearances in Monaco, the Isle of Man and across the UK. Charity matches, including against the Fulham All Stars at Craven Cottage, have raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes.

Today, Sealand FA exists to ensure that pathway is organised properly: independent of FIFA, clear in its own governance, and serious about giving players a real opportunity to represent Sealand.

Sealand FA and Sealand IFC

Football under the Sealand flag is not new. The national side has represented the Principality before.

What is new is the structure behind it.

Sealand FA is the independent governing body — setting the rules, registration, eligibility and standards that make the project serious.
Sealand IFC is the rebranded national team and public face — the players, the badge, the matchdays, and the story being built from the ground up.

One provides the framework. The other wears the shirt.

Together they mark a fresh chapter: the same independent spirit, now organised properly, and open to people who want to belong.

Our Mission Statement

We exist to build an independent national football team that people can genuinely belong to.

Not by waiting for permission from the official system, but by creating a real pathway — with our own standards, our own governing body, and a place for players and supporters who want something different.

Our purpose is simple: give people a chance to grow, be noticed, and represent a nation chosen by belief and commitment, not only by birth.

Our Player Pathway

Players come through open recruitment — by interest, recommendation or approach. There is no automatic selection.

Anyone who wants to be considered goes through a simple process: basic checks on availability, attitude and level, then formal registration with Sealand FA. That means accepting the eligibility rules, code of conduct and commitment standards of the Association. Only once registered does a player become eligible for selection.

From there, places in the Sealand IFC squad are earned. The pathway is open, but it is not casual — it is designed for committed players who want a real chance to represent something different on the international stage.

Citizenship

Representing Sealand is about commitment and registration with Sealand FA, not about changing your legal nationality.

Players who join the pathway are linked to Sealand through the Association's formal process. That connection is part of the identity of the project — a belief in belonging to something independent and different.

It does not replace or affect your existing citizenship or your right to play for any other country under their rules.

Standards & Safeguarding

Sealand FA is committed to running football to a clear and professional standard.

That includes player registration and eligibility, codes of conduct, matchday organisation, and minimum safety expectations for players and spectators. Safeguarding sits at the centre of how we work — every participant has the right to a safe, respectful environment.

We expect professionalism from players, staff and officials: commitment to the badge, respect for opponents and the game, and full acceptance of the Association's rules before anyone is selected.

These standards exist so that representing Sealand is taken seriously — by us, and by anyone who plays with or against us.
